Faux pas

I was thinking that this could turn into a handy little thread for those little faux pas that could so easily be avoided.

My questions is what colour hacking jacket should I get if I have a black velvet riding hat? Are there any no-no's?

I ahve a black velvet one,
and I have a green tweed jacket, with a really dark navy velvet collar so that it does not show too blue against my black hat

Id say no blue hacking jacket, grey could look ok, but I personally prefer green!

What colour is your horse?

My hacking jacket is also green but without any trim and my hat is black.

It's for my BHS exam so I don't know what colour horse I will get. My last hacking jacket fit me when I was 6... might be a bit small now

I have this dark tweed grey jacket that has a fine black check running through it so it matches my black beagler, a blue had just wouldnt look right with the tweed but then I guess it depends on the colours/shade in the tweed.
