Hi,

For inspiration I am wondering what everyones fav jumping exercises are (Exercises rather than grids)

One of mine is two fences on a related distance of 6 strides, in the middle a cone to each side, then jump the first 10m circle round the cone and jump the second. Really helps with maintaining impulsion on a corner.

Any others?

One of my faves is the good 'ole two jumps on opposite sides of a 20m circle and making sure you get the same number of strides between the fences to encourage that all important rhythm, rhythm, rhythm!

(ie one at x and the other at c)
I also like the jump on the centre line, one or two strides to the second fence and then turn on one stride to a fence either left or right ie

sort of like that only slightly less acute

I love having two parallels up about 3-4 strides apart and doing a figure of eight over them... Helps with jumping fences on an angle and really teaches horses to bascule aswell as encouraging the thought of keeping turning and jumping!

two single fences with a jump stand/cone or something, on a curve to a corner!

and you have to ride a direct straight line through the two single jumps

infront of the cone (*) then you can do the corner 3 strides on a curve direct through the 2 fences:D

if you can understand that

You go over the jump, do a circle to the next, circle the opposite way to the next etc. And you can make all sorts of courses with it (I resorted to this as I found it too tight to be jumping it the proper way at 1.05m on a pony when the school was only 25m wide)
Found it in my 101 Jumping Excercises book

Try doing it in a 25m wide school, Boomer kept unseating me because it made him so sharp
