Favourite dressage comments?

'Good impulsion, though slight lack of control' - Our first canter circle....flat out bolting with neck set.

Hmm.

Not my best test! Who said cobs were boring.....LOL.

Hmm - Grey cob is off to her first dressage on saturday with eldest daughter, I expect we may well get this sort of comment. Its prelim 4 so she has to do trot to halt - aint no waaaay thtas going to happen

"Rolled" was the comment I got for halt/salute at X in a test I did on my coloured pony last year! Fair enough, as that's what she did!

Then on the general comments I got "a very spectacular halt"

Will never forget that day - luckily it was all caught on video too

Are you the rider of the youtube video with that name? If so I watched it and and it was very funny! It was such a nice test up until then!

I have only done one test on Sandy which warranted an interesting comment - I thought I had already put it up somewhere?

"Oh...dear... Not really in the mood is she? Well sat anyway, does she jump?"

This was when she was still in her "how DARE you back me?! I'm going to be a complete brat to show you how unimpressed I am" phase last winter

I need to dig up my old dressage sheets from my PC eventing days! I had a fab little pony, 12.2 ex pit pony, built like a tank and LOVED his jumping. I was very cruel and made him do the dressage before i would allow him to do the SJ and XC - how mean is that!! He had the strangest way of going, would set his neck in full on rolkur position even on a loose rein, chin touching his chest :D And would go around with his lips curled up and teeth bared!! Often got comments about nice movements, well ridden, lovely paces etc etc but "shame pony looked so indimidating" :D EVERY test sheet had a comment about his teeth on it lol He was fab. RIP little man!

Sounds like my kinda guy

Well written on my test sheet at the bottom of the page was this 'Nice light little horse with correct paces. Very obedient and well ridden. You may find he will struggle competing with warmbloods.' He came 2nd in an ele with 67%.

Being slightly procetive of my little NFxTB I decided to ask the judge what she ment by her comment to which her reply was 'well dear the little horses don't look as good as the big horses  'Don't forget that some people have paid an awful lot for their horses'

RUDE!

I must admit I did get my boy as a rescue for nothing, unbroken and skinny but he looked a million squid at the time.

I always thought about her comment when my 'little horse' used to beat the 'big horses' at compations after that :D

Sounds like my kinda guy

He was everyone's kinda guy!! He started off a pretty well known international rider in his youth! FANTASTIC jumping pony if you could hold him, or if like me, you just let him go at his own speed :D lol

Why do our ponies not grow with us? And not get old?

'Well ridden despite the horse taking you like a train'

'Stopped.... just!'

'Horse strong'
'Horse getting stronger'
'Horse very strong'
One after another on a test sheet!

And the one that made me beam:
'Well ridden on a horse whose conformation does not make dressage easy'

atouchwild - just watched your youtube video, really made me smile :D

nice recovery :p

am loving this thread although having to bite my lip to stop myself laughing out loud - should be working!! shhhhh

Don't worry. At prelim, all transitions can be progressive so your daughter should not be penalised for a couple of steps of walk.

I lost count of the number of times I got "tactfully ridden" as my event mare always lost it after the first canter and then jogged and bunny hopped her way round the rest of the test.

My sister got "unconventional entry" when she panicked in her first ever test and entered as soon as she heard the bell. Unfortunately she was trotting past B at the time!

Atouchwild - LOL!! That halt was fantastic! The horse didn't even roll, her face was like "I'm fed up now, thats all I am doing!" and lay down!! It was a lovely test up til that point.

This thread has made me dig out ALL my dressage tests to look through (though there are not that many to be honest). As I said before, my horse really is an angel - the only funny comment I could find was 'Almost halted but changed his mind! Couldn't you kill him!!!!'

I also found a couple of lovely comments which have encouraged me to get out and about with him again, 'horse showing lots of ability to go on through the levels' (although maybe rider doesn't) and 'You should do really well with this little horse. He has lovely paces and you give him confidence'.

from not long ago!......try to be more accurate as you throw marks away esp on circles - use your arena even if your horse is not being good......that'll be because the test was done at 90mph, sideways with the odd spin thrown in, my girl screaming her head off for her boyfriend, and oh yeh, she then dumped me going up the centre line!!!!
