So, Im looking for some ideas of places to go next year

What is your favourite place in Yorkshire to take your horse? Not for competitions, more for hack/beach/xc schooling etc

Yorkshire is full of excellent places to ride.
The Yorkshire Wolds: hidden long grassy valleys http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2211733
The Yorkshire Moors: a massive variety of riding with outstanding views. There's a nice circular ride round Rosedale on the disused railways: http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/39240 (permit needed for some of it)
The Yorkshire Dales: The Pennine Bridleway is now fully open http://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/pennine-bridleway
If you fancy something a bit more urban, there are long stretches of the Trans Pennine Trail around and about, and there is also Brodsworth Community Woodland which has good parking and some lovely all weather tracks: https://scontent-a-ams.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/s720x720/524178_2957855826235_485294441_n.jpg

Keeping a close eye on this thread as would love to go to the beach & explore a few new places (not that I've explored much where I live at the moment as I don't like hacking alone!! So if there are any horseless people east of york who enjoy hacking & would like a horse to ride & keep me company get in touch)

Another vote for the rides at Farnley Tyas.

Also would recommend Ride Yorkshire website - www.rideyorkshire.org
We have great long weekends at Saltmarshe, Howden - www.appletree-cottages.co.uk and ridden over to the cross country course at Balkholme www.manorfarmcrosscountry.co.uk
and at Balk, Thirsk www.lowosgoodbygrange.com

Farnley Tyas is just up the road from me, you used to be able to buy a membership and go whenever you wanted but a certain yard abused this and they closed it and you can only go on open days. Shame :(

We are heading to the beach next weekend, yeehee. Never been before, thinking Southport/Formby, just in the planning stage, anyone done this?
Have you any recommendations on parking and useful tips on what to expect, don't whether it is the nerves or the excitement which are making me feel slightly sick lol
