I have started helping my friend with her cob with getting him schooled and getting him out to see the world, as part of this I'd like to do some local showing shows.

He's a nice traditional BUT his feathers are really c**p! They're quite short and were curly when they first started to grow back but have started to lose the curl now and there just a slight wave. They were fully clipped off in the end of October, would they have fully grown back by now or may they still grow more?

He was hogged May last year but that's grown back really nicely.

They wont grow back properly until he sheds his coat for the summer one then they will come back a bit finer and less of them but to their full length

This horse is one who belongs to a friend, not yours, so whatever you do (or intending to do!) PLEASE - you need to discuss it with the owner before you do anything.

I speak as one whose old boy was hogged without my permission while he was on a yard once........

Owners of traddie cobs can be a tad possessive over their Ned's feathers!

Speak to the owner/your friend.

She's still in charge of his day to day care, but I do most of the detangling of manes and tails, she'd rather they were all off!

She's off to uni next year and isn't sure if she's going to sell or loan him so wants him to have some experience of the big wide world before he goes to anyone else.
