Newish (4 months) cob pony gelding, 14 yrs old has sufferrrd on and off with fecal water since I’ve had him. Poos are well formed and fine but he passes quite a lot of dirty water that soils his bum and runs down his tail and legs. He’s on winter schedule now on a small diy livery, so out in the day on grass and in at night with ad lib hay. He has a small handful of speedibeet to take a joint supplement and forageplus balancer daily. In light work hacking 3-4 times a week, wormed and turned out with another gelding and others in adjacent fields. Good weight and otherwise healthy aside from his dirty bum! Any advice much appreciated

There’s a FB group called Horses with Fecal Water or something like that. What’s worked for mine is feeding half hay and half hay replacer. It seems as if it’s hay that starts her off, especially if it’s not soft or anything other than Meadow Hay. She can eat a good fold of a normal bale, but anything more than that upsets her, so I mix speedibeet, Haycare and Happy Hoof in a trug and she gets that overnight.

I did have some success with Protexin Acid Ease and Coligone, but she’s not on either now.

Have you had teeth checked lately? That’s often a cause.

My pony had this, not terrible but wet.
Here is the link to the thread I started about it. There is a link to a second thread in it.
They may help.
