drives me mad just cos you have a horse it must mean you have money sooooo not true! people expect you just to keep on shelling out money upon money to sort something out that they have caused and its p!55!ng me off!!

long and short of it got saddlers coming out to put back my saddle how it was before they altered it (paid for alteration) and they want to charge me call out fee to put saddle back to how it was before they even touched it!!

yeah its alright ive got cash to burn, £100 quid here £100 quid there what the hell - thats small change, right?!

grrrrrr rant over!

Surely if it's a problem they caused they should put it right for free! If a mechanic damaged your car you would expect them to sort it out at their own cost.

How many times have I heard well you must be rich you have horses. ARGH! Drives me bonkers.
My standard answer is well I don't smoke or go out drinking, and I'm sure if I did those things it would cost me more than keeping my horses, at 6 quid for a pack of fags these days, 20 a day would cost me way more than the rent on my field.

The whole horse = rich thing is really annoying. I always get it from people, like at work, 'bet your horse costs a bit'. Less per week than a big Saturday night out in town or smoking 20 a day, I always say ;)

However...

If you asked for the alteration, and paid for it, and now want it altering back, I think the saddler is quite entitled to ask you to pay for this. Travelling to you doesn't cost them nothing. They are only providing a service that you have requested, and they have a living to make too.

If they are putting right a mistake on their part (which I'm guessing they don't consider to be an error), then perhaps you need to speak to them again about the costs involved in this, & see what you can negotiate? :)

Yup horse = rich annoys me too, I choose to spend all my money on my boys, there is nothing at all left over, but I dont drink, smoke or really go out very much at all. I buy value brands and economise on everything in my life bar the boys and I wouldn't have it any other way :)

yes i dont spoke or drink or have computer xboxes, the newest phone, new clothes etc etc but it still bugs me that im paying out yet more to get the saddle put back to how it was.

oh well live and learn i guess - always go with your gut instinct and never let anyone tell you otherwise even if they are a professional

Im the same!

'oooh you have a horse you must be loaded and snobby'

No.

i slaved my arse of for years earning pennies learning about horses and making myself into a decent rider. all my hard work has now paid off and i am lucky enough to either be given horses to ride which are not my own, or only have to pay a small contribution.... so no i am not rich i just worked bloody hard to get where i am!

boils my blood too! I'm actually skint! I hardly ever go out, dont smoke, and I always feel guilty when I buy clothes in the sale or on ebay because I think I should be spending the money on the horse XD.
Always have huffy friends asking why I cant go out even though I have just explained that I have just recently had to fork out for the rug to be repaired, feed, the wormer, this months livery and hes due for shoeing. Not to mention other necessities!

Yet, apparently im rich. I wish! :p
