As in the title really! It's like 1 step forward 2 steps back with my youngster. Horses stuck in today due to vile weather. Just as he was getting a lot more settled and consistent in his behaviour (had been bucking violently on lunge and seriously over reacting!) today he does a huge buck on lunge and starts freaking out at the chickens (normally the chickens, cat, dog and me can be in his stable with him and he doesnt bat an eyelid!). Anything slightly out of routine just blows his mind and it seems the fact he was in an extra 2 hours was that today. Had back, teeth, saddle checked etc re bucking on lunge. Ended up buying him a new saddle that was fitted 2 weeks ago as thought the bucking was purely due to saddle...but now not so sure and guessing he is bucking as he has been stuck in. Fearful they will be stuck in at least another 2 days due to the constant miserable rain here. I am battling awful confidence issues which I just dont seem to be able to progress with and really feeling rather fed up today. Wish we had some warmer weather so I could actually get into a proper pattern of work with him and then maybe we would both stand a chance of progressing! Anyone else ever feel like this!?
