Just wondered if anyone else gets fed up of driving their horse box.
I was out sunday taking OH to dressage
Monday took lad SJ schooling
Tuesday takin lad to SJ training
Thursday off schooling
Friday collecting daugthers new pony
Saturday taking OH and daughter for dressage schooling
Sunday off to solihull to compete.

Still I guess theres no chance of the brakes seizing up on it

I love driving my lorry, the clear roads in front of you which is really lucky as there always seems to be loads of traffic behind you ....

it also means I'm going party party

Strange, I've noticed that aswell. Did have to overtake a milk float and another slow horsebox once though.

I hear you.
There are times when I would love NOT to have to drive the lorry. Esp when I have a long drive then have to ride/compete/groom for myself then drive home and clean out the lorry

No I would love to drive a horsebox that much, would mean I was out competing and not sitting here!! But I hear what you are saying, it is tiring, I have a trailer and find that very tiring to drive long distances.

I absolutely love driving my truck

Just wish it was a bit quieter and I could hear the stereo lol!

I hate going down the A9 in a car as the road is so much quieter when your in the lorry. Our old box only went at 50mph max the cars used to get so annoyed at us!

Join the club. I went SJing on Sunday and was 2 half hours each way. Usually take the lorry out 2 or 3 times in the week to school somewhere as no facilities at home. Then when eventing season starts average mileage to BE event (both ways) must be about 450!

Last year the lorry did over 15,000miles!

Me too! never realise how tired you get having to concentrate getting everything ready and drive, then get out and ride....then go home!
Recently when i caged two lifts i fell asleep on the way home twice! it was bliss...
Just need to work out how to ask dad for more taxiing favours...

At least you have a horsebox

I do sometimes get tired of towing the trailer as I spend so much energy worrying that it's too windy or wet or icy etc!! Would be much happier with a horsebox!

Its one luxury I would have if I was rich enough, someone to chauffeur me and neddies when I wanted to go out!

When my sister went to work at an eventing yard there was a girl who kept her horses there. She has a luxury lorry but can't drive it so she gets someone to drive it for her. However she may have had all the money she wanted even when she was younger it was her gardener, or whoever, who took her to pony club. Her parents would never watch her compete.

Does your OH not drive, then you could take it in turns (perhaps the one who wasn't competing could do the driving)??

My hubby is trying to train me to drive our lorry. The hardest bit is manouvering it in our yard as is v small, I am getting more used to it except there is a 1:3 hill a couple of miles away..

Luckily my hubby drives otherwise I wouldn't get to learn my dr test on the way there & have a snooze on the way home!! Have also done virtually a full strip tease from plaiting scruffs to full sj gear more than once in the front, which'd be trickier if I was driving... (We are always late cos o/h is rubbish at getting out of bed.)

I hate negotiating the drive from my farm to the main road 8 miles away.
To get out you first drive along an 8 feet wide stone lined lane with branches touching the mirrors the whole time. (you have approx 3" to play with before you really hit the lane sides)
Then a steep hill with passing places.
To get into the village you creep past parked cars often having to drive on the pavement, then a blind corner before you hit the 6 mile drive to the A38 expressway or the A30. Both ways involve narrow twisty roads, often single track and used by 40 ton waggons. I tend to smile at those drivers and look helpless, that way they reverse instead of me! I drive at car drivers who attempt to pass me in narrow gaps head on, then they give way.

Eventually once we hit the dual carriageway part of the road I relax and enjoy driving the thing..
You need real skill to negotiate in and out of here, and often it is late at night, you're exhausted and want a bath, so yes, I get fed up sometimes..
I love long journeys though and take pride in driving like silk so the horses have a smooth trip.

I have a chauffeur, she is commonly known as mum or when im frustrated mother!! She drives I plait, got it down to a fine art now.
