Just went out for a tootle through the woods this morning as it was chucking it down. Now the track through the woods is an old wartime concrete track so we on roads/concrete track for the whole time. Coming back Ollie said "Pickle has lost her front hi viz leg wraps" I was annoyed as they were a christmas pressie from other son but when I looked down theywere there, but completely brown with mud. It looked like we had gone through a ploughed field - how?

Eugh, the mud is just stupid at the moment. Gate to the field where the geldings are, it goes up to nearly the tops of your wellies. You find yourself sinking in it, and nearly get your wellies stuck. Its awful!

It's not too bad right by the gate in our field - all the mud has washed away down the slope & it feels stoney under about 1in of mud, but we have to walk up a slope to get into the field & that is a slip slidey nightmare.

I love our fields- they dont get muddy at all, well obv there is a little bit, but not much! fields are nice and flat tho with good drainage with helps alot!!

Paddocks? Those ploughed fields you mean? Most of it is on the turnout rugs when they come in. I had forgotten that I had a grey horse and a welshy with 4 white socks.
Its the pits.
If I'm late getting them in stupid young horse gallops around and around doing sliding stops on the approach to the gate - really helps.

Had my heart in my mouth at the sliding stops a few times. There was one on the yard last year who never really got the hang of it & crashed into thar gate most evenings.
