Just a rant really. Im getting fed up of stupid emails who ignore my advert. Where are the genuine people?

Ive had my 12.2hh NF jumping machine up since the start of august. I had a few emails and a few calls after 3 or 4 weeks. One home was perfect and went to see the yard which was fine but they were not happy that i didnt want their son and cousin learning to ride on him which is fair enough but i stuck to my guns and said no in the end. I can afford to keep him, but i feel bad on him as he totally wasted with me. Im way to big to compete him or do anything half decent with him and hes 5 with a bright future ahead of him.

Why havent i had any more REAL interest? i dont even mind if they share him, part loan him or just ride him!! But so far there is none and i dont know where else to look for little riders or find them or where to advertise him. I hate the slow market at the moment :(

Pony club is an excellent idea. Maybe you should try to target the more ambitious little jockeys if your pony has talent rather than the happy hacking kiddies who will probably lose interest once winter comes?

thats what i think id do... sorry i cant help more though.

also ofcourse have as many adverts up in horsey places as you can. I know its obvious but the more people that see your ad the more chances you have of finding the right person for your pony

Try all the websites like Horsemart, Free-Ads etc. I advertised mine for loan recently and had loads of replies, plus one timewaster who basically after messing me around with three missed viewing appointments, then started bombarding my mobile with text messages saying she was "begging" me to give her another chance etc etc. Total fruitloop! Anyway in the end I basically told her look if you're not gonna **** then get off the pot!

You could also try having a word with someone in your local hunt? If he's OK for a child to hunt safely he'd be in much demand now! Also local Pony Club DC?

OR you could approach some local riding stables and see if they'd like him? that way he'd have the work, but probably they'd be seeking to downsize rather than take on anything at this time of year.

Another idea is if you could find a place that does working livery - mine's gone to a big yard which is also used as a riding school and they run a sort-of horse lease arrangement whereby punters can have a horse designated to them, and keep it on working livery, but they pay what the owners would normally pay in return for that horse being "theirs". That way you basically don't have to pay anything!!! Sorry I haven't explained the set-up very well but if you can find a place like it in your area it might just solve your problem?

OR you could let him go as a companion; but probably better IMO to keep ponies ridden and used rather than just turned away.
 
thanks for all the replies. im going to put him on PC website ect. Hes been up in horsemart for a month but the adverts expired now. so will renew it.

he is too young to have kids learning to ride on him. he gets fustrated and confused. but with a decent jocket (i had one but she didnt have the time for him) hes perfect.

I know exactly how you feel after advertising my mare I had a lot of replys. One girl who claimed to be a riding instructor and trained stallions came and couldn't even rise to a trot or speak a sentence of English. I have had every kind of reply you could think of from people wanting to buy her transact their daughters to ride ( advert stated 'needs experienced rider') and it really started to annoy me. Now I have found a girl that is perfect in every way and it has been more than worth the hassle Ive been through, it only takes one person to loan your horse so just stick with it. Post everywhere you can ( free ads, gumtree, equine adverbs, qui ads, pony club)
 
Have you tried putting some adds around your local tack shops, livery yards and competition centres? those places tend to attract more serious genuine people or mums looking for a second pony.
 
I find that if you make people talk to you instead of texting and emailing you usually end up with just the genuine people.

Just state that you won't respond to text messages.

He sounds like an ideal pony for my daughter but my hubby would shoot me if I took on another horse!!!
 
If he was a first pony type people would bite your hands off for him, we have the same problem trying to find little bods for our fizzy 12.2 welsh b, there are just not enough experienced little riders.
 
Had a similar sort of problem with my daughters horse. She would dearly like a sharer as he is being wasted at the moment. In our add it stipulates where the horse is stabled, the facilities available and that the horse must stay at current yard...........no, obviously people can't read!!!

When I have time I do ride him but I have my own horse. We have had a couple of people come and try him but they are just not confident enough as he is not suitable for complete novices or those straight out of a riding school. Ideally looking for somebody who likes to hack out on a safe but forward going small horse who like to jog on occasions and ride in the manege and not ask if he can go to Liverpool, carry 15 stone or be good for a beginner!!!
 
thanks for all the replies. seems like im not the only one at the moment. I dont mind keeping him ticking over all winter its just a shame. he deserves to be out there and enjoying new things and what not.

Lexie81 were in bedfordshire.
