Fed up..whats happended?

So I went to ride Buddy last night and he felt a bif off in walk, asked him to trot on and was clearly lame

so trotted him up in hand etc and its clearly his back right leg he's lame on however no swelling, cuts or heat etc, looks totally normal.

He kept kicking out a little and stomping his foot like when they have a fly near their bits and bobs! He was fine Sunday so Im hoping he may of done it in the field, I didnt give him bute because I dont want to hide the pain and was going to trot him up this evening, just hoping he will be ok.

Any ideas, never really had a horse that just goes randomly lame, just worried :S

Was dragging his hind foot Thurs nite and Fri and now has a massive swelling on his sheath which is growing up his belly (Check out the photos!). We've had the vet out who prescribed antibis and bute but I was on the phone to them last night as still not happy as the swelling is growing and he now says it could be inner thigh muscle damage with edema fluid build up

Have you pushed on the sole of his hoof? If no swelling, bumps or cuts I instantly think ABSCESS!!

If you don't have access to a pair of farrier hoof testers, get a hoof pick and gently but firmly "poke" it around the sole of the hoof. It he flinches or there is obvious heat in one area, then its an abscess. Get the farrier rather than the vet, although you may need vet to get some bute.

He may have also just pulled a muscle, so if there is no heat in the foot, I would let him rest a few days, and go from there.

I have just looked at your pics of your boys sheath. I had exactly the same thing with my boy and it was an allergic reaction to a wormer.

It was a rare reaction as they usually react on their faces or neck. The vet just gave him bute and it went in about 72 hours. Have you wormed recently?

Just a stab in the dark, but my boy goes MENTAL if his sheath needs cleaning, kicking in a similar manner to how you describe. Just wondered if yours has done that, and slammed his hoof down hard on concrete/hard ground and jarred himself.
Clean his manly bits

and see if the kicking/stamping stops.
Ob may not work for you, but worth a try.If he's jarred himself because of it, especially with hard frosted ground, may take a while for the bruising to reduce and him to come sound.

Hi ya. No, he hasn't been wormed recently but has now been swollen since over night Friday with lameness. I'm presuming the lamesness is to do with his bulge as the poor man must be uncomfortable! He's been on 2x bute twice a day since Fri night.
