Took Louis my cocker spaniel out for his usual walk with my mum and her dog 'Betty ' Louis had been very good until he ran off on a scent- we thought he had found horse poo, but it was far worse;he'd got a fawns leg. It took us 10 minutes to catch him, but he wouldn't give up the leg.

We tried everything, throwing sticks, giving Betty treats but no the leg was his. Betty wasn't remotely interested in it. He carried it the whole way home on the lead, tail wagging frantically. He ignored all other dogs we passed- hoping they didn't want to steal his prized leg.He was so proud.

We eventually got to the car bone still in mouth. We put loads of treats on the ground hoping he would drop the leg, so I could kick it away, but didn't work. In the end I had to pull the foul, hairy leg from his mouth.

It was disgusting. Thankfully mum had gloves on which I borrowed, otherwise I couldn't of touched it. Almost every time we go out for a walk in the forest he manages to find a body part of something. It's driving me mad! If he's not collecting body parts , he's rolling in poo !

Hadn't thought of that! Louis is such a wimp, would turn and run as soon as catch something unless it ran away from him first then he'd chase it. He's scared of our bearded dragon, as soon as it walks near him he runs and hides!

Oh no - and of course they have to draw attention to it just as people are approaching don't they - bloody showoffs!

Mine cornered a weasel this morning - didn't grab it fortunately but it weed on Hector  never come across one with the dogs before and never smelt anything like it! Absolutely gross - was gagging in the car on the way home - bath and coat spray later and I can still smell it - eurgh!

I assume Louis is that little cutie in your siggy *sighs*:D:D:D

Welcome to the world of spangle owning :D- St Sweep is 12 and still regularly eats dead things while out walking :p:p:rolleyes:- no chance of catching the little bugger so I just ignore him and keep walking as he won't let me go out of sight:D - as for rolling in stuff that too goes with the territory!!:D:D:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Aw, I can just imagine how proudly he must have walked with his fawn leg in his mouth.

Was there not somebody who posted recently  , about how she had madly tried to flee from her dog under their walk, while the dog was determined to deliver the bird that it was carrying in its mouth, to her - a bird which as I recall it, sometimes flapped its wings...

;) I feel so sorry for those HHO dogs, that has to live with so unappreciative owners.

:D

Least your dog didn't grab a pigeon, kill it in about half a second and then parade around the town centre with it traumatizing little children who were asking "daddy, why's that dog carrying a bird. Why isn't the bird moving?" while you're frantically trying to make the dog drop it!

Worst thing was that we were on the way to the vets after he'd eaten something mouldy and very dead and we were checking he was okay.

I suppose the pigeon was fresh!

Isn't that what spangles are supposed to do collect dead things??? Ok so fresh dead is preferable!

Mine often pick up road kill to supplement their diet I expect he was planning to take it home for tea!
Yesterday mine sort of shared (with a few grumbles), the placenta from the foal but ONLY when people came to see the foal!!! I had put it out for the Buzzards and Kyte's but they didn't get a look in, the boys like to make a scene!

Yes, that is him in my siggy, only he's much bigger now and unfortunately smells really bad. He draped his huge ears in a stagnant pingo on our walk in the forest and now stinks. Thankfully he didn't find any dead things today just big sticks that he chose to carry and whack into our legs instead of tormenting us with body parts. The joys of spangle owning!!
