Do any of you get fed up with the same old rides?? I have lived where I am nearly forever so unless I trailer somewhere the routes are same old same old.

Just recently I have no motivation to tack up and hack out if I have only an hour as peed off with the same block.

Rant over, I need to sort myself out!!!!!!!!!!

Can you join a riding club or train for a different skill (tent pegging/western/polo etc - so many different things!) to help you find the fun again?

Hi, I do lots of rides with local groups, sponsored and Endurance. Travel to my mates yards etc

Its the day to day riding really, I just need to find the umph !!!!.

Ah, that is more tricky then, esp when it is cold and wet!! Could you enter a couple of comps so you have the drive to perfect something or get fitness up? Without a comp aim I find it hard to motivate myself when it is so cold!

I used to get fed up of the same old riding :( I used to school out hacking Legyeilding and stuff (Obviously where it is safe to do so) And I used to build jumps in the woods just to spice things up alittle.
But now I live in the new forest :D Don't think i'll ever get sick of it here. :D

That's funny, we were talking about that out on our hack today. We are on a big estate and have loads of different routes to go. However, haviing been there for 5 years (my friend been there about 10) there is always something new happening or to see around about. Never get bored with it.

im exactly the same! although we have great hacking i find myself getting bored and losing all motivation! :( its ok when i have a goal but as i have a horse on loan and no transport i cant really go to events very often :( i love having lessons and jumping and hacking with my friends but if there is no one to ride with i find myself getting a 20 min bus (plus a 20 min walk to the bus stop!) to find a muddy pony and go for a cold wet ride on my own :( its such a shame!

I know exactly how you feel :(. I feel the same, I have no trailer so don't have the option of boxing up, no school. I tend to hack out 4/5 times a week maybe 1 of those I'll have company otherwise I'm on my own! My pony and myself are both very stale at the moment.
The awful weather tends to restrict you to roads and less daylight tends to limit you to quick round the block rides
I've started to hire a school once a week and either lunge or school for a bit of variety.
It will get better soon. Fingers crossed summer is on it's way :D.

I feel the same, have been here for more years than I care to mention and have ridden the same 2 hacks on everything from my 12.2 when I was little to my 17.3 now and gawd it's boring. Having only had an arena for the last year, I have spent many, many hours hacking the same route! I do compete and vary the work, but you just can't change the day to day stuff!

New forest is best hacking ever isn't it! :) Just thousands of permutations for miles, loads of jumps built, loads of different terrains, amazing canters...

and I really feel your pain, one share I had there was one forty minute route and one ten minute route, got bored stiff! Loads of gates too awkward not to get off for too. No suggestions I'm afraid =( if a companion would help there are always companion rider requests up in tack shops.

I could never get bored riding round our way as don't have to do the same route twice in at least a week!

You are SO lucky, where are you? - here we have ONE byway, over a slippery hill, and with such deep trenches caused by 4x4s and tractors that it's unsafe to ride down it in the wet (not helped by gas guns in the adjacent field). There are two circular road rides, one is 6 miles and crosses two railways, and involves a nasty lane with fast traffic and blind bends, the other is 5 miles and includes the lethal byway. Oh, and the village green, which is common land, but even in walk we get complaints about leaving hoofprints. I used to live on the Surrey/Hampshire/W.Sussex border, endless miles of riding on sandy going, and one day, one day, I'm determined to go back, though I dream of finding somewhere with equally nice riding and cheaper houses!

TBH I think this weather has a lot to answer for! It seems to sap the joy out of hacking and makes everything seem like really hard work.

We are quite fortunate with our hacking, but recently have had the OS maps out to look for new routes and ways to vary the ones we already use. It has been useful and we have added a couple of loops onto existing hacks. I think even doing the route the other way round to normal makes a change!

We've also invited another lady to join some of our hacks who is also in our village, as a change of company has also made the hacks different.
