Ok here goes hope someone can help....
I have a 17.3 dutch warmblood... doing quite a bit of DR work currently out all day in at night.

i have an issue on feeding him .... he is very delicate and has suffered with lots of wind colic in the past and was resulting in the vet most days, sometime 2 times a day.

So working with the vet we slowly changed the poss causes. bed, TO, and feed.... we are now colic feed for some time now, (touch wood).

I desperately need some more condition on him.. he is quite bright when working, but you are riding his natural energy not food produced energy.

so currently he eats -

spiller fiber nuts ( cos these are not bound with sugar beat ) cant eat any beat products. 1 large scoop am and pm

Spiller conditioning fiber - very big scoop am pm. (tryed alpha a oil - doesnt add it on him as much)

large glug of soya oil in both feeds.

apples and carrotts.

Haylage approx 30lbs a day. (cant get any more in him.)
Im thinking of trying a conditioning nut - but very nervouse about it.

Any ideas guys would be great...

Pink powder is supposed to help with condition?? I think its helping with my boy!! Maybe worth a try. Other than that, id just call up all the different feed comapnies and see what they suggest!!! Allen and Page is my favourite for condition! Their foods all seem nice and heavy lol

Why not try Spillers Slow Release Cubes. Kind of in the middle of a Horse and Pony Cube and a conditiong cube. They are cereal free and high in fibre and oil as well as being low in starch.

Will up the calories without causing fizziness. As they are also cereal free, you wont be introducing cereals into the diet and therefore reduce the risk of digestive upset.

I havnt a sensitive horse gut wise, but i fed topline conditioning cubes, along with graze on,he blossomed to the extent i took him off the topline and reduced the graze on,lol!I can highly recommend the graze on though(we have poor doers that have bloomed on it),just natural freeze dried grass, the digestible energy is very high so should put on condition, and you can feed at a high quantity...wouldnt have thought that should upset his gut? x
