Hi,

I am looking for advice as to what to feed my 14.2 Welsh C. She is out 24/7 at the moment and I don't feed the recommended amounts as only give her a handful of D&H High Fibre cubes and a handful of Hi-Fi lite. Have just recently started her on Pink Powder.

She does tend to hold her weight very easily hence why only handful of feed but I do feel that she lacks a bit of sparkle and that she appears to tire easily and not be as forward going as I would like.

With so many different feeds on the market I'm unsure as to what to feed her to try make her less lethargic. She is ridden 5 days a week. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I have a very good doer who I compete in reining and a number of other events who is prone to sudden energy loss; she did well this season on Saracen Releve which does have a higher energy value than what you are feeding but is still low starch/low glycemic response/cereal free; I added a large handful of alfalfa but she also does well on oat straw chop and additional Vit E supplement. Have you looked into Tiger Oats? I haven't tried them but as a straights additive I understand they can help energy without adding fatty calories?

Thanks for your reply.

I will have a look into Tiger Oats, don't want her getting too hot though by feeding oats. Are they different from 'normal' oats? Excuse my dumbness!!
