just trying to decide wat to feed my 5 year old wb x irish cob any input would be greatly appreciated. He is about 15.2 ish and i think he has some more growing to do he doesnt look as if he has grown into himself yet, im hoping he is going to grow a bit more at the moment he is in light work but when the weather improves hope to start getting him fit, he isnt poor but lacks in neck and muscle which i know will come with time, at the moment he is on top spec light, unmolassed sugarbeet and apple chop, its just that sometimes he can be flat and other times off his trolley he is on a calmer to help this does his diet sound ok or should i change cant decide what to do for best as i want to support him as he grows into himself

you don't say whether he is stabled or out all the time, or what he's getting in terms of hay or haylage.

If hes still got growing to do then he might be better on a stud balancer than topspec light. The key is to make sure he's getting plenty of fibre, from hay (or haylage) and sugarbeet to help keep him warm and keep his condition.

you're right with the muscle though, that will come as he gets fitter as long as he's working through from his quarters.

his temperament maybe something that will change as he gets more work too, so I wouldn't worry about it at this stage.

thanks i was more concerned about the growing side cos he was really poor when i got him a year ago didnt have the best starts so only looks like a four year old at the mo im presuming he is still growing cos of his breedibg and poor start he was 5 in september
