I am currently feeding my horse blue chip original but somebody has told me it contains way to much yeast and will effect his joints is this true? I know it is expensive but my horse looks fab and is so chilled out when i feed it to him, bearing in mind he is a 4 YO freshly backed warmblood

If it ain't broke don't fix it! and anyway blue chip is fed in such small amounts I really can't see it containing too much yeast - rubbish f you ask me....

Can't you ring the Blue Chip helpline and voice your concerns? They'd be able to tell you what levels of yeast are contained within it. I also think you shouldn't believe everything you're told by 'friends'!

[/ QUOTE ] Ditto this! I always find the best approach is to ask the 'friend' if they can refer you to any books, studies, papers or internet links which can back up their claim!

If the horse looks fine and you don't mind the expense leave it. My hardy boys are out in all weathers and all they get is hay and chaff when the grass runs down and they look great. I get all the so called experts telling me you need to give them this or that, it all depends on the horse and what they are doing and none of them will be doing much in two feet of snow except keeping warm. Your eye will tell you what condition they are in.
