Feed balancer- cost?

My mare tb is on a fibre diet and has conditioning cubes all year even in the summer ( just cut down ).

I wondered if anyone can tell me how much they pay for a feed balancer???

I feed her all year and she lives out in the summer so has her conditioning cubes cut back but id like to know if it would be easier and cheeper to feed a balancer? She is in regular work so i feel just roughage alone isnt enough so want to make sure she has enought.

Cereal feeds are out of the question- they send her nuts.

When you say balancer do you want something like blue chip or a supplement balancer kinda thing like Naf Pink Powder?

Im thinking along the lines or top spec- something that comes in a bag.

I pay about £35 a bag for Blue Chip. D&H Ultimate Balancer is also good IMO and a bit cheaper at around £30 a bag.

A bag lasts me just over a month I think.

I feed brewers yeast for digestive problems but as I understand it it works as a feed balancer as well. Lots of people on here really recommended it and it is much cheaper than top spec

If your mare is on good grazing in the summer and maintains her weight well, then you might find you only need to feed a broad spectrum vit/min supplement (such as Equivite or Benevit) in a handful of chaff rather than a balancer.

I use the top spec feed balancer and its £29.50 for a 20kg sack. I feed 600g per day as Pidge is 600kg in weight so a bag lasts me 34 days. Regardless of what else he gets fed I know he is getting all his minerals and vitamins.

I use Local balancer. It is £19 a bag, horse looks good on it and it lasts a long time. It is made by Baileys, and he will be fed on it all year round as is good for his feet, but doesntadd calories. And is cheaper than Topspec (though TS is amazing stuff)

How comes the LeisureTime is much cheaper than the normal TopSpec? Is it really that much lower in "stuff"?

I have a feeling that they wont guarantee the LeisureTime for competition as being 'clean' for affiliated competition. I would like to know what the difference is too!

I use Ultimate Balancer, but really dont feed a lot! 300g for a 560kg horse. He just gets Happy hoof and SBeet with that.

I am looking into moving onto local Notvite stuff as it is produces specifically for the Soil type in my area. We used to feed the stud horses on it and it was fab! And smelt like bananas!!!!

I was hoping it would work out cheaper to feed a balancer but its going to cost me more.

My tb is a good doer and has very good grazing so i think i will carry on feeding the dengie orginal and add a general feed supplement so i can be sure she is getting everything she needs.
