Feed balancer for a fatty?

Wanting to get a feed balancer for the fatty, as have done a ration cal for him and he's not getting enough of quite a few nutrients! He's ridden for at least an hour every day, jumps 3 times a week. Just really showing (riding club horse, hunters and workers) and dressage this summer, then a few hunter trials come autumn. He's nearly at perfect weight, isn't out at the moment at all (due to grass mask rubbing his hair off, and he won't let you catch him without grass mask on), so gets two nets of haylage, one in day and one at night. And is fed just 1 scoop of Hi-fi lite.

Edging towards topspec but don't want to go out and buy some only to find it puts weight on him, so any suggestions? Pref. something with MSM or the likes in for joints, and something for coat condition too.

if you're thinking top spec, give them a call and see if you like the advice they give you.
Don't discount Equimins, friends have their fat natives on that (for exactly same reasons, can't risk extra weight, but otheriwse missing some vital bits and pieces!) and they look and seem to feel spot on.

Top Spec Anti Lam is brilliant for fatties. Our horses aren't laminitics but exceptionally good doers and it is perfect for them. Fibre based, GM free, has biotin for feet etc. If you speak to Nicola Tyler at Top Spec she is very helpful and doesn't give you the hard sell either.

Why don't you add a vitamin/mineral supplement instead of a feed balancer? Or swap the hi-fi lite for something like happy hoof or safe and sound?
My fatties just get a small scoop of safe and sound all year round, and are both looking really well on it.

Try Bailey's Lo Cal balancer. Your horse sounds like it would be perfect for him. It gives all the nutrients and vits. needed without the calories. My good do-er has been on it for two months and looks really well.

TopSpec anti lam sounds like the one for you .Ring or e-mail them as they will advise on which is best. IMHO can't beat the stuff

Dodson and Horrell advised me to go for Suregrow, its the same as TopSpec AntiLam, for my 2 fatties. Its only £9 per bag and was even reccommended to my friend by a top vet!

I'd just feed it Happy Hoof. Specifically designed for horses prone to weight gain, or allready on the portly side. And has all the vitamins etc in it that you need.
