Could any one help me out, with some suggestions for a feed balancer for my well built sec D, who can live on thin air. At the minute he has 2 handfuls of good doer chaff, this is under the reccomended daily amount, so he won't be getting the vits an mins he needs. He's out 24/7 and ridden at least an hour a day.

I use low cal on my ISH who lives on Happy hoof and thin air ! Although it is slightly expensive for a bag you use so little it last for ages, highly recommended.

Baileys No4, Low Cal Balancer. It costs between £21.95 & £24.95 depending on where you purchase it from. It's designed for Good Doers or Laminitics.

Do you particularly want a balancer (with protein, probiotics/prebiotics etc) or do you just want to make sure your horse gets all its vit/mins? If the later then you could look at broad spectrum vit/min supplements such as Equivite Original, Benevit etc. If you particularly want a balancer then as has already been suggested, Baileys Lo Cal is a good solution for a good doer.

Dodson & Horrell Equibites. You can feed them as treats so you don't need to give him a feed to mix them into and they've not got calories in. I'm just about to put Murphy back on them and he'll just have them chucked in his dinner bowl with an apple.

Tecwyn would need about 10 equibites a day. They're about £7 for a tub and a tub should last you over a month so they're not expensive.

Cooks's and Sharnford Lodge usually sell them

You may find you want Bailey's No.14 - Lo-Cal Balancer... No.4 is conditioning cubes!!

And to answer OP, go for either Lo-Cal or TopSpec Lite

My mare is half section D and half warmblood and a very good doer. She is muzzled and her grazing is poor.

I give her Denfie good doer and blue chip and she looks fab.

I have tried baileys lo-cal but she refused to eat it.
