What do you all feed? Do you feed one?

I’ve always fed one religiously but have cut it out recently, most probably temporarily but just looking at options. I’ve fed Baileys Lo-Cal, Topspec lite and Topspec cool balancer and more recently Spillers Daily Balancer over the years. I’ve had a problem with my horse getting urticaria/hives and it may be coincidence but since stopping the feed balancer this seems to have cleared up completely. Has anybody else bags a horse react to a balancer?

I’m just looking at my options and wondering whether to try a powder balancer or maybe the blue chip super concentrated one. 🤔

I have been trying to feed progressive earth balancer for about a year now but my horse absolutely hates it, the smell of it and the taste of it no matter what i mix it with. So i either need to cut it out completely or get a pelleted balancer. Interested to see what others do

Mine are currently on Hilite Hi Fibre Cubes, Dengie Alfa Beet, Mollichaff Applechaff, and supermarket own brand porridge oats, all soaked together into a mash, with a bit of salt and some sliced carrot/apple. Plus 12 to 36 kg of hay between them per day, depending on the weather. It's working for them.

I never thought to use supermarket oats if they just need a small-ish amount! (And now I've just realized I'm nearly out of oats for my porridge lol).

I've been using FP Winter Hoof & Skin. Would love to find something cheaper but he does well and I'm afraid to trial anything else.

I use forageplus powder balancer.

I have a heavy horse so the amount of 'normal' pelleted balancer I'd have to feed to get the correct ration would be ridiculous. He'd need at least 3 bucket feeds a day! I love how simple powder balancers are. I mix it into a very small amount of a mash.

Other HH owning friends use Equivit powder balancer added to a mash.
