Plastic bins with clips, AND cats to stop the rats chewing through them!
I get nice big metal ones from the local "defence pyrotechnics" place (basically they make things that explode and we get their cast-off metal bins!) - very strong and rat-proof, last a long time, but do eventually rust.

The large plastic ones with clips don't hold a full bag of Maiden's HiFi Lite, but DO hold a full bag of Darcy's Alfa A.

The metal ones I was on about hold a full bag of Alfa A, HiFi, anything pretty much. The square ones (expensive ones you get from Robinsons and the like) hold one bag of anything, per compartment. Small "regular" bins hold one bag of mix/ nuts, but not chaff/ similar.
What livery are you offering? At work (full livery yard) we have one five compartment metal bin with most of the feeds in, two large plastic clip ones for the oats and sugar beet, and two regular plastic ones for two bags of TopSpec. I on the other hand, as a DIY livery myself, used one metal bin and one regular plastic one (chaff and nuts). So the number of bins depends on the type of livery and range of feed you're offering!

Dont bother - use old chest freezers like loads of yards! They last forever, are vermin proof and insulated and you'll be preventing them clogging up landfill.....and you might be able to get them free!

i just got rid of 5 of the freezers that were here already it was a d.i.y yard before , not for me thanks.
but i think i will get the 5 compartment one and some bins , im only doing full livery for 11 horses
