feed bins

having realised that metal feed bins are very expensive ( i need one big enough to get rugs in)
does any of you know where i can either

a) get one cheaply?
or
b) know where i would find an old chest freezer??

Don't the freezers need to be de-gassed or something before it's safe to use them for storage?

i've got one of the biogish plastic boxes from b & q with all my rugs in, not sure if you was looking for a plastic one or not but i've had mine a good few years and it's still mouse proff

I find that four drawer filing cabinets make excellent feed bins - mouse proof and you can store four different feedstuffs in them. A standardish sized feed sack just fits in the drawer nicely.

You still have the space on top to store all the stuff that would have been on the floor where the filing cabinet stands.

Look in adtrader, ask on freecycle or if there's an emmaus near you they often have them for around a tenner.

We have old freezers, keeps the damp and mice out and very inexpensive. RECYCLING!

the b and q boxes are good, quite a few have appeared on my yard since i got mine, good for everything, tack, rugs and all the stuff we horsey people collect and never use! def a good buy!
