Feed blox?

They're equivalent to a kg of hay, you can feed them dry or soak them. Mine won't eat them dry & there's a lot of wastage but will eat the Timothy version soaked.

how big are the blocks and do you just chuck them in a bowl?

They are about the size of a brick, weigh a kilo and I just throw them on the floor and he plays with it then eats it :)

Hes currently getting one a day. He is fed and hayed a really early and given one instead of the treatball he normally got filled with alfalfa cubes, then hes turned out about 11am til 7pm then brought in and he gets the treatball at night and hes farily picking up, he wasnt well, had a virus and lost alot of weight so i got these as boredom breaker fibre when he was in 24/7 on boxrest and hes looking much better :)

I've used them since November, when i saw them a YHL. i've tried both the halleys feeds and the feedmark ones and i prefer the feedmark ones. they work out a bit more expensive but they seem to last him a bit longer, the halleys feeds ones broke up really easily, whereas the feedmark ones took longer to break apart.
i either put them on the floor or in a haynet to stop him dragging it through his bed.
might try the simple systems version at some point to :)

Mine have a halleys Timothy one every afternoon they have haylage as well of course but they enjoy them and waste none.

The feedmark ones are made by halleys. I've used both but am now using the simple systems as they are local and slightly cheaper. I feed them during the day if they are confined to barracks. They all love them and don't waste any. Soaked overnight they make a massive bucket of grass which is also a very useful feed.

Just read about these in another thread and not hard of them before.

What is the benefit and how exactly do you feed them?:confused:

I give them to my greedy girl. If she's in then she'll get one half way through the day in place of a net. I buy the one very low in calories (adlib), I give to to her in a feed bucket and I think the idea is they should last hours but they don't with my girl. She gets her teeth in and doesn't stop until it's gone

I use the fi-block version as they last my greedy boy an hour!! He gets through a two kg hay et in an hour so I think they are great and only cost a £1 each :) I use the meadow hay version

My lad gets the halleys green gold one every night soaked , makes a huge bucket filled for him, he picks at it through the night.

Bowl always locked clean by morning. I feed it for condition

Cost me £7.50 for 12.

The Simple system ones are the green gold blocks so are pure alfalfa. The Feedmark ones are the low cal ones. There are great but you do need to make sure you are not feeding the high cal ones to good doers! Halleys have put their prices up recently.

Mine like the AdLib blocks. I soak them for about 20 minutes first. On the other hand, I bought some Big Fibre blocks with them (Halleys) and they wouldn't touch them. I gave them to the YO who tried all the greedies on the yard with them, but they all turned their noses up. Interesting, as the Big Fibre blocks are sweetened straw, but the AdLib ones that they like are very low sugar.

I would be interested to know if anyone has got their horse to eat the Big Fibre blocks, as for one of the cobs on our yard to refuse anything is unheard of!

I think I'm going to try some of these. Pony is out 24/7 with hay/straw morning and night, but I think even my greedy boy is getting a little bored of it.

So a dry block, how long do they last if just fed in the field?

Where is the cheapest place to get the ad lib blocks?

Thanks x
