Feed for 2yo Colt

Bailey's Stud Balancer - my 2 yr old has been on it since he was about 8 months old and has thrived. Grown beautifully - not too much too quickly - has always kept the right amount of condition on with a lovely sheen to his coat and has never been too fizzy. Would use it on anything!! Mare at our yard has got 2 month old foal at foot and is on it too - has kept her condition throughout beautifully and even when she had bad uterine infection she never lost condition and her foal is stunning in condition, etc.
Have also fed D & H Stud Cubes/Yearling Cubes with lots of success to a youngster that refused to gain ANY weight.

funny ive actually just ordered some as phoned baileys !! glad to know it works well !! he has good condition but i want some protein to help that last bit and for his grading next year !!

I have my mare and foal on the dodson and horrel stud cubes as well !!

Products from Simple Systems - all fibre based and I personally will not use anything else since changing to them.

My boys have never looked better and they have huge feeds of their low cal products.

They are very helpful if you call them.

the best thing I find about it is also the fact that you only feed very little of it to get the required amount of nutrition, therefore cutting down the amount of grain you are having to feed your youngster.
It is actually good enough to feed competition horses on as well (good doers obviously). I know of several eventers that compete on it successfully on Bailey's advice.
The nutritionists over at Baileys are fab as well so will help you out whenever you have any questions.
My boy is off it at the moment as is out on knee high grass and would pop if he had anything more but as soon as the grass goes down he will be back onto it and all the broodmares (3 of them) are on it.....fab stuff...he always looks in tip top show condition when he's been on it and I have to say it's made him grow well (though not too fast) as was only supposed to make 16/16.1 and at 2 is now standing roughly 16 HH.
How is your boy bred?

He is irish draught x belgium warmblood i wanted something with more bone and relaxed temprement from my mare as she is very hot !! i got exactly what i wanted !!

he is only 15.2 at the moment i was worried he would get to big as his dad was 17.3hh and mum was 16.1hh so didnt over feed him now im thinking he needs that last extra bit of help especially as i want to take him to a grading next year !!

IMO stud balancer would be the best thing for him as it is very high in protein and has got excellent vits and mins levels without being too much for them. My boy is Dutch WB X Trakhener so I likewise didn't want him shooting up to quickly and I have to say that I couldn't be happier with how he's grown.

well ive ordered it should be here in a few days !! they said it should last a month !!

well ive ordered 2 bags and we will see how it goes !! he'll probably make 17hh now ive done this !!¬

might even last a bit longer. I found that I never had to feed my boy the full recommended amount when he was on good grass then he only needed about 2 cups a day.
