What hard feed do you use for your laminitics approved by the lamanitic trust. I feel it is time to add a little feed to my ponies diet as I think he is looking a bit poor for this time of year. He has been getting soaked hay and a little alfa lite with vits and minerals and very restricted grass. I have kept him sound since the attack in the spring, but don't want to have any setbacks so am looking to you guys to let me know what you find to be the best tried and tested. Thanks in advance and hot chocolate with marshmallows for your help.

I have a laminitic who is not a good doer. She's 13.3hh & has a scoop of soaked alpha beet & a scoop of Alpha A oil twice a day. Both of these products are mollasses free & safe for laminitics. She is still out at night, but has around 3-4 flaps of hay too. she also gets Formula 4 feet as a balancer.

She hasn't had laminitis for several years now. (Had it with a previous owner sometime).

You asked about LT recommended products. I have had bad experiences with these and can not therefore recommend them.

As every horse is an individual it is unwise to generalise, but if you can bear to scroll down to the end(ish) of this post http://barefoothorseblog.blogspot.com/search/label/equine diet

this is a cost effective and high quality diet that works for my lami prone horse. But it does require mixing.

I have two Lamanticics/cushing Disease.
They get Bran, Hi-Fi Lite, Lo-Cal, Formula4Feet, Linseed, Cod Liver Oil dampened with water. Also soaked low-calorie hay.

If that's low cal as in baileys low cal balancer, you really shouldn't use formula 4 feet with it. Waste off money and can over dose

Allen & Page fast fibre for me. If fed at 1kg unsoaked per day provides vitamins and minerals. Fills 'em up without giving excess sugars. My boy is not laminitic but needs a diet to keep his weight in check. He needs fibre in his diet as he is still on his starvation paddock.

Baileys lo-cal - expensive but goes a long way. Qwik or speedi beet (no molasses) & Hi-fi lite to bulk it up a bit just started using a little oil too. Add well soaked hay & so far we've been fine. Fed my boy like this for about 3 years no probs.
