my pony is very fit, ridden 5 days a week and lunged 2 days a week. he is ridden for atleast an hr each time, or if hacking more. the hour consists of alot of trotting, cantering, bending, transitions, pole work etc etc!

my question is, what is the best feed to give him more sparkle.he is currently fed connallys horse care cubes to help with previous stomach ulcers(fine now but feed is precaution).he isnt lazy as such but i do have to encourage him forward constantly. not lacking in energy as such-now im confusing myself!! someone said what about instant energy mix but only give him half the recommended dose? any thaughts?

I would put him on a balancer such as topspec so you know he is getting everything and also to help his stomach as it is no grain and cotains Pro and pre biotics. I would then Feed a chaff and a quick release energy mix, and play with the quantities! Mine gets half a scoop to a full scoop of comp mix, topspec and hiFi, looks fab and feels fab on it, and I know he is getting everything he needs from the Topspec, so don't have to worry about feeding recommended amounts of hard feed.

spillers competetion mix for laid back horses has given my lad some uuuummmphh!without making him ridiculous , just alot more energy in a positive way.

i agree with bramble87, spillers instant energy mix is really good for a bit of sparkle. or you could try the new winergy equilibrium feeds, they've been proven to help horses with ulcers and have one for each energy level so should have one to suit yours.

If he had ulcers stay hi oil, hi fibre and low starch - D&H Staypower cubes/mix are great and what our lad moved onto after Horsecare

Giving him a day off might spark him up a bit
