16hh ISH, 6yo, quirky behaviour, fizzy in company and/or for first ten mins under saddle. Good quality hay (6kg) and Stubbs scoop good doer each feed with pink powder, good turnout 8-3 daily. V gd condition, have not weighed him recently however he is looking good. Worked 4-5 times a week, hacking and schooling ( having a break after busy summer competing in all RC).
Having had lots of issues have finally got him behaving reasonably not like a spoilt brat, so am reluctant to pump him full of feed now after a hard slog to get him to relax and behave - but - he is starting to 'die' on me out hacking, and toward the end of harder schooling sessions.
When I first bought him I did put him on a&p calm and condition to get some weight on which worked well however I would prefer perhaps to look at other chaffs or use oil, would oil be a good way to go in terms of non heating? I have used oil years ago on a good doer to give enough energy for unaff three day event, so was wondering if this would be the way to go.
Any recommendations welcome.
