My TB struggles to hold her weight and loses condition over the winter so I was looking for suggestions on what to feed alongside veteran vitality.

I’ve been considering trying her on spillers conditioning fibre so curious to see if anyone else has tried it and whether it worked.

Any advice would be appreciated. :)

I’ve just changed from veteran vitality to Soothe and Gain and Dengie Meadow Grass. I’m feeding a bit less (horse was 2 round scoops dry and day, but now 1 1/2) but weight has increased in a week.

I've used Spillers Conditioning Fibre on a horse who went loopy on hard feed. It worked, to be fair, but I found it extortionately expensive due to the volume I had to feed to make it effective.

I'm currently feeding Equerry Conditioning Mash which is brilliant - puts condition on like nothing else without adding any fizz. It's cost effective too as it is a complete feed. It's also very palatable - even our fussy lad bangs the door for it!

Firstly, is she on ad lib good quality hay or haylage? That would be the first thing to tackle. If she is, then fibre is your friend.
Every person here will tell you something different because we all have different experiences and preferences.
I would highly recommend giving Mel at Threshers Barn in Newbury a call. She is the most knowledgeable person I know when it comes to feed and nutrition, and she is learning more all the time.

beet pulp , barley rings, linseed or condition mix are brilliant for putting weight on horses. I wish I had your problem my horses weight is very hard to control .

Got mine on 3kg Dengie grass nuts and 400ml rapeseed oil a day, in two feeds.

Mine loses weight when fed soya, and it's in a lot of feed.
