Hi all,

Wondering what you feed your young thoroughbreds? My tb will drop weight like no tomorrow, so since we're coming into winter I have started feeding her 3x a day (it was 2).

She's on chaff, conditioning nuts, speedibeet and lingold.

The other weird thing is she does have days where she is super chilled and not as exciteable on the same feed, so I can't seem to quite get it right.

Is this something I will have to put up with because I want her to be a healthy weight, or is there a way this can be managed?

You might benefit from trying a high quality balancer :).

I feel all of my horses (including the Thoroughbred), TopSpec comprehensive balancer and it's never failed to improve their condition significantly. The joint balancer is also good and slightly more cost effective.

I feed the balancer in conjunction with their linseed or high fibre mash. Personally, I don't feed chaff as mine have ad-lib forage 24/7 so it's just not money well spent.
