Hi all

Posting on behalf of a friend whose horse has sadly been retired at 14 due to a pedal bone rotation

he also has other things wrong like narcolepsy and navicular.

Anyhoo, the reason for posting is we aren't sure what she should be feeding him now. At the mo he's having Topspec feed balancer, she asked Topspec if he could go onto the Leisure Time but due to the problems with his feet they said not to.

Is there anything that's cheaper she could try coz she wants to try and cut down on her costs.

Thanks in advance.

Nope, topspec houldnt be that expensive when considered how long it lasts....however if it is just for feet, how about something like the new dengie healthy hoof feed and a vit and min supplement? However, really do rate topspec, spec after seeing the results it has had with a previously critically laminitic pony.

Yeah I really rate TopSpec coz I use it myself but think she would like to try and find something cheaper if possible. Shes cut down on other stuff too so its not imperitive (sp?) to change if TopSpec is her best option.

Thanks, Ill mention dengie healthy hoof though.

I was going to say, if he is a good doer, why not feed him ad lib soaked old hay (am assuming the pedal bone rotation has been caused by lami, if not, why not hay) ? And then a small feed of hifi lite or happy hoof with some suppliments in such as biotin and a mineral suppliment.
