Sorry guys but just want to ask your advice really.

Indi is currently on Ride & Relax, suppliments & Chaff but in the winter can be a bit of a poor doer. I have in the past added a bit of Calm & Condition to his feed and he did do quite well on this.

He is easily fizzed up so this year im looking for somthing to add to his feed that will help with the weight but wont blow his head off.

Someone has mentioned Fibre beet but just wanted to see what you guys thought.

Don't know what chaff you are on, but I would suggest swapping it to a conditioning chaff with a high oil content, like Alfa A Oil. You could also swap the R&R for C&C if you find he does well on that.

Obviously you also need to check worming and teeth are up to date and that the horse is getting adlib hay/haylage (ie if stable enough so there is some left in the morning, and also hay available in the field if grazing is poor).

Indi is wormed up to date and has his teeth checked every 5 months so everything is fine in that respect.

In the winter he has a bale of hay a night and 99% of the time he scoffs the lot!.

He has two feeds a day and is on turn out for about 12 hours per day (although this year we will be leaving him out for longer as we have more grass and im trying to toughen him up)

He is rugged up 24/7 and in light work.

He has been on speedibeet before so i may just put him back on it and see how we go.

Oh and hes on Molichop Chaf (was on Herbichop but changed it)

Speedibeet, and if he still doesn't keep condition, barley in any of its forms is good for adding weight, without fizziness.

[/ QUOTE ] Assuming that is Super Molichop - Original, it is only 8mj/kg (that is the 'calorie count') whereas Alfa A Original is 10 mj/kg and Alfa A Oil is 12.5 mj/kg. So you can see what a difference in calorie intake just changing the chaff will make!

Take him off the molichop - its mollassed - and swap that for Alfa A oil.

I use fibrebeet, with great results, on both my exracers - deffo recommend it.
