My horse has had colic 3 times now (vet thinks the last two times may be sand colic as there's a lot of sand mixed in the grazing) and had laminitis as a side effect of the first bout.
He isn't the 'traditional' lami type - a 16.2hh Irish Sports Horse.
Currently he's on a scoop of D&H Safe and Sound and 1/2 scoop of Alfabeet mixed with water twice daily. He gets a wedge of hay in morning and 4/5 wedges at night in a net. He's very greedy so don't think ad-lib hay would work as he just wouldn't stop.
I have some Pink Powder which I will be adding (1 scoop morning and evening) to help his gut. I will also be adding some Feel Good 30 garlic, parsley and linseed oil supplement.
I am on a tight budget, but was looking for some cheaper alternatives and ideas on what to feed him to help reduce the risk of him getting either again.
He is on very limited grazing with no possiblity of changing fields.
