a kind of magic

For my young boy. He is rising 2 stock bred american paint. The other american bred horse we have is a very good doer, he is not so. He is also a very fussy feeder. The spring grass has started to come through but I still think he could do with a little bit of a helping hand.
I prefer not to feed excess starch or sugar, he is not at risk of laminitis but I do find it makes him a bit 'jittery', in terms of him being a fussy feeder, if it is too sloppy, oily, bitty or just not 'tasty' he will tip his bucket over and go hungry!
All my other 3 are fed on A+P Fast Fibre, Mollichaff Hoofkind and Equine America's VMP powder but it's not enough for him. A+P suggested Ride and Relax but he dislikes the mix texture, and Calm and Condition he won't eat because it's sloppy!
His favourite thing to steal is the lami-prone pony's dinner (not my pony) which is Happy Hoof, he has a bag of this for the time being as he wolfs it down with his VMP powder but is there anything else I could sneak in there to help him put on weight?
