Bud is currently on Allen and Page Calm and Condition and looks fab and has been brilliant on it, calmed down but kept weight on.
Very recently he seems to have dropped off a bit, not quite as full of energy and i am not sure if this is due to him working a lot harder and not getting enough now from his feed.
So i was wondering any recomendations of step up from current feed - that won't blow his brains as he can get whizzy. maybe i could just add something to what he has now??
(sugar beet, molichop, hoof supp, calm & condition twice day lots haylage grazing most days)
or change to something else?
We have our first event end of march and want to make sure i am feeding the best i can

thanks

Red Mills Horse Care cubes are (is ?) wonderful stuff.

The HW hunter on my yard is on it - looks fantastic, and has oodles of energy without being studpid.

why not change the molichop to alfa a or ready grass? are you feeding the max calm and condition - if not up that too.

if you want to change then i really rate topspec conditioning flakes - none of mine have heated up on them (but i'm sure someones horses probably have).

ETS: also try adding soya oil - good for condition and slow release energy

Red mills horse care cubes would actually be a step down in energy/condition from what you are on. They are meant for horses in light work or those that are prone to tying up and are slightly higher in oil but not in DE.

Maybe you could try a conditioning cube or spillers slow release cubes? they are quite conditioning but have a bit more oomph without being fizzy.

Our horses are hunting three times a fortnight on the Red Mills - and have never been so well.

I'm sure they are!! Not saying they aren't enough, just when you compare them to Calm and Condition they are about the same if not a bit less so for this particular horse, it sounds like he needs to go up a level not sideways.

Wasn't suggesting they're not any good, just maybe not right for this particular horse.

Just my opinion!
