The best way I find to keep weight on my veteran is to feed Alfa Beet with added oil and micronized barley, and of course make sure she has ad lib haylage.

I must say your feed regime last year looks a bit complicated - why don't you just change to one type of chaff and one type of concentrate? For example, you could feed Alfa A Oil (higher in calories than Hi Fi) and the recommended amount of 16+ (or a conditioning cube or mix).

Alfa beet is v good

Hi,

My horse didn't keep weight on very well until I started feeding pink powder (any balancer would probably do). I also feed baileys topline mix which is excellent with alfa a and sugarbeet. Lots of hay/lage as well.

My horse is a poor dooer. I feed Alfa A Oil, Micronised Barley, Baileys No.1, fibre beet, cup of soya oil and pink powder.

I think the pink powder is fantastic, its got probiotics in and really helps with his digestion.

Split the feeds into as many as you can in the day. Lots of smaller ones are much better than one or two big ones. I do only feed two though as its not possible for me to feed any more.
