I've recently changed my mares feed, she used to be fed Bran, Mollichaff, Bio care, limestone and magnitude. she has always been spirited but I've given her this month off as I'm waiting for physio treatment for her as she hasnt been quite right, my local feed supplier had run out of mollichaff when i went to get it so i took Hi Fi A(alfafa) and I ran out of Magnitude so decided as shes not being ridden to see how she went without it. And she is so calm to handle, not sure about riding yet I'll find out in the New Year, but my question is would it be the alfafa thats calmed her down? I've never fed it before as I thought it would fizz her up? Thanks

No. I cant see it being the Alfalfa, its got more protien in it than molichop so should give more enegry.. Very old fashion menu there.

it may be because the hi-fi does not have molasses in cant feed my boy mollichaff/mollichop as it makes him very fizzy

That was my 1st thought too.

Molasses in molichop. Protein isn't an energy source. It provides blocks for muscle and topline development, any excess will be excreted.

Yeah very old fashioned as I cant really feed her much as she is so fizzy but she looks really well on it, I've always thought Hi fi would be more fizzy than mollichaff really cant understand it tbh but if it works.... I'll see what shes like when I get back on board!
