Is it to provent mud fever? My lad got it every year really bad but the turnout socks never worked and the vets told me that they course a lot of problems so I tried protexin to fight it through the insides, has never had mud fever again.
It depends on your routine. I use equilibrium equi chaps. Clean dry boots are put on every morning. The horse is brought in and legs are hosed whilst boots are still on. Then I remove boots and hang them to dry. I then put stable boots on. If the boots are correctly fitted no mud gets under them. My boy has four white legs so I can clearly see the mud.
