Feeding a 3 year old

Looking for a bit of advice please . . .

Just bought a stunning (in my opinion ;-P!) wb x tb - he has the most amazing temperament and very loving I just can't believe my luck tbh.

Anyway he has never really been fed anything bar grass and haylage - so what should I be feeding him?? Going to give some of the feed helplines a call over the next few days but thought you guys will be able to give me better impartial advice!

He is quite bum high (currently about 15.1) and looks fab not over or under weight but worried about him never had any vits and mins etc for growing up.

I have just got a bag of suregrow as its the only one I found that was ideal for youngstock but you have to feed so much its going to work out really expensive if I give him the recommended amount, plus don't really want to have to feed him too much as don't want him getting too fat. I am lucky to have really good grazing and he will be staying out 24*7 till the end of oct then out during the day and in at night from November.

By three there's no reason he can't have the same as any other horse. And before the days of balancers, horses managed! Personally my feed of choice is unmollassed sugar beet just to carry Pro Balance +. That's it apart from hay/haylege in winter.

He's not really youngstock anymore and all the 'stud' stuff is for proper babies.

He only needs fibre (grass or hay/lege) and a good general balancer. Feeding him loads of mixes and cereals etc will just make him grow too fast and probably affect his temperament too.

My three year old gets grass and pro hoof balancer in some chaff.

My 3 and 4 yr olds get a small bucket all year round of Fast fibre. Pro Balance, handful of unmollassed Hi Fi. They get Micro linseed also in winter only.
