There are many many feeds out there which say they are good for ulcers and is rated by someone! I like equidgel/lamigel and it has had good results. A lot of users in here like pink mash but I could never get any of mine to eat it.

Has the horse been diagnosed by a vet and medication advised?

That aside, good quality fibre. Feed a scoop of unmolassed chaff before exercise.

Low sugar and starch feeds, cereal free as much as possible.

Keyflow Pink Mash, Allen & Page Soothe and Gain, Baileys Ease & Excel are all designed with ulcer horses in mind.

There are a plethora of supplements available. Depending on what types of ulcers and where different things may work. Protexin, Succeed, Gastrokind, Gastrocare...the list is pretty endless

I would suggest keeping it basic with a good clean chaff and grass nuts.

Look carefully at any feeds declaring to be ulcer friendly as quite a few will still have fillers, molasses, oat feed, soya which would be best avoided.

Which brand do you buy please?
I feed one of mine AloeRide which seems to help but is quite expensive

Barrier the last few times, but whatever is cheapest on ebay from a reputable supplier. This one looks best at the moment

Aloe has been tested against omeprazole and although it wasn't as effective as the prescription drug at curing ulcers it did improve them. I really rate it as a preventative.

Thank you for the reminder about Aloe Vera juice. Will start to include that in my ulcer-suffering gelding. Has anyone fed fresh papaya as a treat for horses suffering ulcers?
