My boy is naturally a poor doer and is a big tb. However recently he has had to go onto steriods with the associate risk of possible laminintis. So he is currently in a sectioned of bit of the field and is allowed in the big field for a short time each day. Currently he is in very light work and is fed one fed a day of alfa a molasses free around 3/4 of a stubb scoop. He did used to be on d and h conditioning cubes but I have since stopped that. However now he is looking very thin indeed and weighs around 555kg. What would you do?

If you are not already doing so, feed him hay when he is in the sectioned off paddock - probably best soaked to reduce sugar content, if he will eat it that way. You could also add some Speedibeet to his feeds - this is low in starch/sugar but high in digestible fibre and calories. You could also look at Dodson & Horrell's Cushcare, which is designed for equines with Cushings (who are prone to laminitis but often lack condition). I'd feed at least twice a day as well.

Could I not use the cubes? Only o stocked up for winter before he went on the steriods. I never thoughts a out feeding him hay in the field. He does go out with the others for around 5 hours a day atm
