Hi some of you maybe able to help. I have a rising two year old who is fed 1/4 scoop Oats 3x per day and 1/2 Scoop youngstock mix and Alfa-a late evening. Fed ad-lib hay/haylage. I supplement her feed with mineral pellets (autumn/winter only) and carrots. Is this enough?
My friend thinks I should feed her more oats 1/2 Scoop 3x daily) but I was always led to believe it's better to feed ad-lid hay (good quality) and don't over do it on the protein. She is a really big filly for her age and looks well with a really healthy shiny coat. I am a little too scared to over do the protein. She grows so fast and is a good doer maybe I could up the oats but don’t want to over feed her.

Any advice is always appreciated.

Oh forgot to say she is ISH x Hanoverian

Doesn't sound too bad at all maisiebo. Mine is a just turning three yr old colt. (I know he is a year older but may give you an idea - and he is not such a good doer) He gets:

Ad lib hay and of that 2kilos is haylage
Morning feed is:

1 cup linseed
2 kilos Show conditioner improver mix
1 scoop Alfa A oil.

Evening feed is the same except Conditioner mix is 2.5 kilos.

I wouldn't up the feed either, sounds good, and from the sounds of it she seems healthy on what you are giving her already. Stick with your feelings on this one!

If she is looking good, don't change a thing

Oats are likely to just make her fizz up rather than gain condition. Many people with 'naughty' youngsters create the monster by over feeding

None of ours got any hard feed until they were in serious work
