I'm currently trying my new horse on re-leve as she has a tendency to plant and stiffen up when she is worried, and she was also coming up with bumps all over her skin (mostly concentrated in areas where there was tack/she had sweated) which i wasn't sure whether it was due to barley in her feed/excess protein/sweat rash... However I wasn't sure going into the winter and the hunting season whether I ought to be adding anything extra into her feed, a balancer (I have 3 bags of Baileys Performance Balancer but am worried to use them) or a multi vit supplement, and what is compatible with re-leve? She is in daily work, autumn hunts 3 mornings a week at the moment, and has 3/4 scoop of re-leve a day with electrolytes on the days she is doing harder work/sweating up. I don't want to overdose her on vitamins etc but want to make sure she has enough of everything she needs esp with her planting tendencies!! Thank you!! xx

If I was you I would call Saracen and ask them, I would think though that if you are feeding enough of the releve you shouldn't need extra suplementation. You might have to feed more of it though then you are feeding right now. I'd mix it up with a bit of chaff as well. :)

I agree - use the helpline they are very efficient.

I feed 3/4 scoop Releve to my mare with added salt and a large handful either of unmolassed oat straw chaff or alfalfa chaff - works a treat. If I wanted any more condition I'd opt for a handful of micronised linseed.

Hi guys, thanks for advice, will call Saracen tomorrow and see what they think!! I am increasing her feeds gradually and have now starting adding chaff, was just wanting to make sure she gets all her vits and mins as her coat etc has always been quite poor (I've had her since June and its not improving as much as i'd hoped) and as I say she does seem to suffer from muscle stiffness. Will see what saracen think, thank you!! xx

Saracen will be able to give you the best info but I suspect they will suggest adding in some Equi-Jewel to supplement her energy needs and possibly help with the muscle stiffness. It should have the added bonus of helping her coat.

Saracen told me that 2kg of Re-leve was enough to provide RDA of vit and minerals for a TB. I believe a scoop is over 1kg.

I feed 1 1/2 scoops of it per day with Omega Rice (a different brand of rice bran, think Equi-Jewel but cheaper), Alfa A oil and a half dose of a vitamin supplement.
