Hi All

Just after some feeding advice please I have a 14'3, 23 year old conne x with PPID (Cushings) and teeth that are on the way out too :( and he does light work maybe 2 short hacks a week.

I am going to have to find a good hay replacer and have started to feed fast fibre with simple systems chaff (but the chaff will have to change as too coarse), he gets the following added to his meals biotin, magnesium oxide, micronised linseed (obviously not a lot of this as it is quite fatty) and garlic granules.

My dilemma is that he is not that impressed with fast fibre and I don't think I can fully replace the hay with this, so I'm after suggestions of what I can add please (he is a good doer and doesn't need extra energy or sugar due to the PPID and laminitis) - I've read some people replace hay with readi grass but I thought this was too high in energy as basically similar to spring grass.

Just some ideas would be great please :)

the veteran horse society website is good for advice on feeding dentally challenged oldies and hay replacement buckets .
