Hi,

Does anyone have any advice on feeding for a horse who is very laid back, not forward off my leg at all? He is a KWPN, 10yrs old and currently on Baileys Lo Cal Balancer and happy hoof with ad lib hay/haylage?

I am not keen on any sort of feeding that might make him fizzy or spooky so not sure if there is a happy medium? Top Spec came to our yard and recommended Leisure Conditioning Balancer and Top Spec Lite Chaf. They thought he was in perfect condition/weight etc. Appreciate I also need to train him to be more off my leg through schooling exercises which I am doing but just wondered if anyone had any tips for feeding too!

thanks!

My KWPN is fed A&P's Calm & Condition, FibreGy chaff and speedibeet. Also adlib haylage of very high quality. He is a poorish doer, but also has issues with too much cereal, it hots him up and makes him dangerous. So I would recommend C&C, as it conditions and gives energy with out fizz, well it does for my lad every horse is different and mainly it is trial and error. We tried Bailey's and did not do anything, then Blue Chip sent him loopy finally settled on C&C and not changing!

Hope you get it sorted, remember all the feed makers have hot lines to help you, but beware they do tend to suggest you feed a lot for than needed!
