Hi.
myself and partner have just bought a cob youngster he is 6 month old he was weaned not by us at 4 1/2 months! As they sold his mum.

We are hopefully in the future use him for logging in woodlands.

What I would like to ask I what would you suggest feeding him? When I worked with weanlings before they were TBs and I'm sure we used to give them little milk pellets that smelt so nice in the feeds. But I know the nutritional needs of a TB that's going to race is different to a cob.

At the moment he is fed:

Am. Half scoop chaff, quarter basic nuts and quarter sugar beet
Lunch. Handful nuts (as my other boy is not a great doer so he needs lunch)
Eve. Same as morning with 10ml linseed oil

Grass in the day and ad lib hay. He didn't know what to do with the feed to start with but has soon caught on.

I have just wormed him and he was full of them bless him.

I just want to make sure he has the best possible start with us and especially as he was weaned early.

Thank you

I've fed both cob youngster adlib fibre (not rich grass!) and a balancer/general supplement (any really). He's 6 months old now so I'd just feed him like a normal native youngster. I.e naff all ;)

They're stupidly good doers even as youngsters and get fat easily. Plenty of overly fat cob babies about! I certainly wouldn't be feeding him three times a day unless everyone else is getting and he needs a token feed.

Thank you, at lunch he has a fist full as my other boy has lunch and Morris looks at me with puppy dog eyes lol
I have just wormed him and omg I thought he had grass snakes in his poo poor boy. Again thank you for your reply
