Now that Im doing more with Bodey Im finding he is lacking little bit of energy and wondered if you guys had any suggestions on what is best to feed him?
First of for those who dont know Bodey is a 15hh, 5 year old, MW cob (hes the one in my sig). If you want a bigger photo then just let me know.
He is currently fed 800g of Alfa A Oil a day, divided between breakfast and tea. He also gets a general purpose vitamin supplement, normally one apple and a few carrots.
He is out for 18 hours a day but we dont have a massive amount of grass. He gets as much hay as he wants when he is in the stable, saying that he doesnt eat more than a slice or two as stable means nap time. He gets approx third of a bale of hay out in the field at night.
He is ridden between 5 and 6 times a week, normally twice schooling for no more than 30 minutes. A lesson, could be jumping every other week for 30 minutes. Some hacking, normally about an hour in walk and trot. And usually some competing one day at the weekend, either SJ or sponsored ride etc.
Obviously I dont want to feed anything that could make him fat, he is quite a good doer, but just want something that gives that little more fizz without him climbing the walls. So any ideas?
Thanks,
Jo
