Hi all

We had a very nice nutritionist come over today from Spiller who was very helpful and was certainly not promoting her own feeds where they weren't needed.

She suggested Ben, Sox and Ben been put on their conditioning fibre to build them up. She also suggested the slow release cubes for Seppie as she needs to put weight on but is quite responsive/forward going so can't have anything to fizz her up

I was just wondering whether anyone has fed Spillers conditioning fibre and/or spillers reponse slow release cubes?

I used the spillers reponse slow release cubes to get some weight back on a horse that has a history of ulcers & who I also didn't want to have to feed large quantities to as he then stops eating his hay. I had a really good result with them - he paut weigt on nicely, they didn't cause any tummy upsets & he didn't get all sharp & silly either. I'd use them again if I needed weight on him, it just seems a shame that they aren't promoted a bit better because I only found out about them when I rang up to ask for starch & sugar levels in their conditioning cubes (which were less suitable for him), I hadn't considered reponse slow release cubes because they were in the competition range.

This is a reason we haven't looked at the either as they are in their competition range and Seppie is one that doesn't need anymore fizzing up, however the nutritionist said these are designed for the fizzy competition horses.

We are going to get some the weekend (1st time we can get to the feed merchants :() and hopefully they will put some weight on

I used the conditioning chaff last year for my very fussy TB. She loved it and it did help her keep weight on. It looks similar to happy hoof and has pellets in it. I believe it's also lightly molassed - don't know if this is important to you?

Thanks :)

One laminitis will be on it but he's monitered very closely and has previously been on Healthy Hooves with no problems.

The other two who will be on it are fine with molassed or unmolassed

Despite being a competition feed, the Spillers Response Slow Release cubes contain more fibre than a lot of low-energy cubes. They won't cause fizziness. I've used them and like them.
