Hi guys, need some advice on feeding. I am very experienced at feeding a lamanitic pony, but my new horse is coming on Sunday and she isnt a lamanitic so I have no idea!

Some background: She is a 15.2 Gypsy cob Mare, not fat but very chunky, 10 years old. She currently lives out and is fed a big scoop of Alfa A and a small scoop of high fibre pellets once a day as there is no grass at the yard she is on. She doesnt currently get hay. She is only hacked once or twice a week.
When she comes to me next week, she will be out 24/7 until mid October and then out during the day and in at night with ad lib hay. She is going to be fittened up gradually but will end up being ridden about 5 times a week. Couple of hacks, couple of schooling sessions and a jump lesson, plus some Parelli so say add one day of light lungeing.
She isnt fat, but she is a very chunky gypsy cob. She does have slightly chipped feet (barefoot) and mild mud fever.

What would people suggest as a feeding plan, if anything other than a balancer? Any advice would be much appreciated :oD

Thanks

I feed top spec balancer and alfa a to my chunky cob, on restricted grazing and in for a bit of hay daily, ridden 5 days a week. I have to admit Im a fan of balancers, but in the past I have fed high fibre cubes or just pony nuts, hifi or alfa a and speedibeet or alfabeet.
